Former Independent Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) head Andrea Johnson and former Crime Intelligence boss Feroz Khan have been granted R10 000 bail each. The pair appeared at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on charges of defeating the ends of justice, relating to the alleged leaking of a confidential police docket back in 2018. The allegation came to light when messages between the duo were revealed during the Madlanga Commission earlier this year. National Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Kaizer Kganyago says, “And therefore the matter was then postponed to next year in February as indicated and they are out on bail of R10 000 each purely because it’s a Schedule one offense. But secondly, because of the fact that there is no prospect that they can see of them not appearing in the other cases, especially with Khan who is already on bail on another matter and there was an issue around whether this one should not be scheduled five because of the other one. But our prosecutors were very clear to say the offence was not done while he was on bail, therefore it was done prior to that.” WATCH | Johnson and Khan granted R10 000 bail: Kaizer Kganyago briefs the media |
