NAIROBI, Kenya Nov 5 -After four and a half years helping shape Dairyland’s brands and marketing strategy, Milan is preparing to close an important chapter in her career, leaving behind a portfolio of work spanning brand transformation, product innovation and consumer engagement. Her journey into marketing was anything but conventional. But at Dairyland, she found an opportunity to challenge established thinking, explore new ways of connecting with consumers and reimagine how a heritage brand could remain relevant in a changing market. Her tenure was marked by bold product innovations and culturally connected campaigns that gave consumers fresh reasons to engage with familiar favourites. Among the standout initiatives was Kuoga na Kurudi Soko , the chocolate rebrand that brought renewed energy to the category. She also played a role in introducing Dairyland’s first vegan and lactose-free ice cream, broadening the brand’s offering to reach consumers with different preferences. Another defining feature of her approach was taking marketing beyond conventional advertising and into popular culture and everyday consumer experiences. Campaigns such as Ice Cream on a Mkokoteni , under the New Drip, Same Dazzle campaign, sought to bring the brand closer to consumers through relatable, memorable and shareable experiences. Perhaps one of the most distinctive innovations was Blackish, a black peppermint chocolate ice cream that challenged conventional expectations of what ice cream could look like. Through the One of One campaign, the product was positioned around mystery, individuality and the unexpected, turning its launch into an experience centred on curiosity and discovery. The introduction of Sip It Loud also marked Dairyland’s entry into drinking chocolate, extending the brand into a new product category and consumption occasion. Beyond the campaigns and product launches, Milan’s time at Dairyland offered valuable lessons in leadership, collaboration and the role of marketing in building brands that connect with consumers and evolve with their expectations. Reflecting on her departure, Milan describes the experience as an important part of her professional growth and an opportunity to embrace new possibilities. “Sometimes, the next stage of growth requires you to step beyond what you have spent years building. Dairyland has been an important part of my journey, and I leave with valuable lessons, meaningful relationships and work I am proud to have contributed to.” As she prepares for the next phase of her career, Milan’s journey reflects the value of embracing change, taking calculated risks and remaining open to new opportunities. After four and a half years, her chapter at Dairyland is coming to a close, but the experience and work she leaves behind will remain part of the brand’s story.
